Crup

A Crup is A wizard-bred dog that was loyal to wizards and hostile towards Muggles. Born with a forked tail, though the tail is normally removed due to wizarding laws at six to eight weeks old. Also requires a licence to own, obtained from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.

Crups emerged from the Southeast England area, but became widespread throughout the globe by the 18th century. Crups are one of the most often covered creatures on the Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations. Their young are referred to as Cruppies.
