Harry Potter Butterbeer Recipe

Harry Potter Butterbeer Recipe

If you’re looking for the most magically-authentic version of Butterbeer from Harry Potter & the Wizarding World available, then look no further! It should be cautioned however, this recipe will be sure to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses! Proceed at your own risk.

Below you will find our no-cook method of this deliciously famous drink that has been popularized by The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade.

While Butterbear is traditionally served foaming hot in mugs for 2 Sickles each, you can also purchase it cold in a bottle from Hog’s Head.

The History of Butterbeer predates Harry Potter and goes back to the year 1707 when a variant of Butterbeer was sold. At that time it was a vintage recipe that wasn’t typically kept in stock at most taverns. As the years went on the drink was so well received by the Wizarding World that it became a fan-favorite that was kept on tap.

House Elves, generally speaking love the taste and consistency of Butterbeer. It should be noted however that due to a House Elves frail composition and light weight, drinking butter beer can lead to intoxication. On the contrary however, it is highly unlikely that any Wizard, Witch or Muggle would also become so due to the very low amount of alcohol present in the drink.

The Harry Potter Butterbeer Recipe

Ingredients

2 Liter Bottle of Cream Soda Chilled
1/4 Tsp Carmel Extract
1/4 Tsp Butter Extract

Cream Topping

1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
1/2 Cup Butterscotch Topping
1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar

Instructions

1.) In a bowl or cauldron, whip heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks.
2.) Add your favorite butterscotch topping and powdered sugar to the bowl.
3.) Mix the caramel and butter extracts with the cream soda until light and frothy.
4.) Pour liquid into a mug of your selection, leaving 1/2 inch room for cream and top to taste.

Note: to serve hot, you can heat the liquid on low in what muggles like to call a microwave for 1-2 minutes or you can use a crock pot / cauldron. For more magic in your cup, lightly drizzly butterscotch topping over the foam.

Variations

1.) Try adding cinnamon in addition to a butterscotch topping.
2.) Some Wizards & Witches prefer the taste of Cayenne in their Butterbeer.
3.) If you don’t have butter extract, try using real non salted butter.
