Bowtruckle History
Bowtruckles are generally peaceful creatures unless they or their home tree is being threatened. They generally live in trees that produce wand quality wood. Bowtruckles are remarkably adept at dodging charms, so in order to take leaves or wood from their home tree, one should offer it something to eat such as wood lice or fairy eggs. Students learn about Bowtruckles in Care of Magical Creatures class, should they choose to take it.

Bowtruckle Etymology
From an old Scottish dialect “bow” means “dwelling” and the word “truckle” in an old English dialect means “limb of tree.”
