Acromantula History

Acromantulas were first spotted in Borneo around 1794, they generally live in thick jungles or forested areas. Acromantulas are social animals, unlike their non-magical counterparts, and live in colonies containing hundreds of their species. Led by the oldest male and female of the species, Acromantulas are also able to create emotional bonds with other intelligent beings, but this likely only happens if they form the bond at a very young age. The basilisk is said to be the greatest enemy of all spiders. Acromantulas are not excluded from this generalization. Due to the basilisk’s killing gaze, and the Acromantula’s wide range of vision, the Acromatulas are highly susceptible to being killed in this manner. The fangs of an acromantula contain highly toxic venom, this venom was valued at approximately 100 Galleons/pint in 1996.

Acromantula Etymology

Acromantula comes the Greek acro, which means high, and the suffix -mantula from the English word tarantula.
